Diary of a Hanky Panky Intern

Today is the first day of my second week as an intern at Hanky Panky. Having my first week under my belt, I would like to share my story with all of you Hanky Panky followers.  Every day leading up to my first day was terrifying. I had no idea if they would like me, or worse, if I would like them. I would have nightmares about myself running aimlessly through the streets of Manhattan during a torrential downpour in order to get the staff their much needed caffeine fix.  I should go ahead and apologize now because I don’t have any crazy first week intern horror stories like this to share.

My first day, I walked into 373 Park Avenue South to be greeted by the friendliest door man ever. He wished me a good morning as I told him that we would be seeing a lot of each other. That is, if my first day goes better than it did my nightmares. I made my way up the elevator to the 12th floor. The doors of the elevator opened and I felt a huge sense of relief when I saw the Hanky Panky signature pastel purple covering the walls.

My nervousness subsided as I realized that I was walking into Hanky Panky, a great company built on the qualities of feminine, girly fun! How could it be so bad? And it wasn’t at all! In fact, my first day was exciting and refreshing. I was able to stir up my inner creativity by working with the Marketing department on their collegiate campaign. And in the Sales department, I helped with orders and learned about the new styles for next season. The best part of it all is that I was able to work with the absolute BEST staff in the world! I am so glad to be a Hanky Panky intern!

About Hanky Panky

In 1977, designer Gale Epstein created a hand-made lingerie set for her friend, Lida Orzeck, crafted out of embroidered handkerchiefs. The original designs were the inspiration for the company name, Hanky Panky. Blending traditional with modern glam looks, Hanky Panky is a fashion favorite of countless celebrities.

What an inspiring piece! I was birthday shopping for my best friend when I came across this blog. Reading this epitomized my definition of youthful growth while additionally illustrating an enigmatic emotion of what it’s like being small girl in a big city. I will share this blog with many, in hopes it will touch others in the same way it has touched myself!
