Epic Care Labels in the Global Economy

Once you've committed to your purchase, you may wish to carefully remove long care labels for your personal comfort.

Once you’ve committed to your purchase, you may wish to carefully remove long care labels for your personal comfort.

In our global economy, composed of many languages, there are now mandates that require all garments for export to have care and content information translated into the languages of the countries in which they’ll be sold. Streamlined manufacturing eliminates the possibility to insert an individual label for each country, so labels are loaded with two to four translations or more depending on a brand’s distribution.

The good news is that Hanky Panky is so popular it’s distributed worldwide; the bad news is that it’s nutty when a label is as long as the garment!

Wacky results from over-regulation results in the fact that for every new purchase, you’ll need:

  • A magnifying glass to read the content/care label
  • Scissors to cut it out when you have determined that you are committed to keeping and wearing your new garment.
  • Our Lingerie Care Tips for reference. (When in doubt, hand wash cold and dry flat.)

About Hanky Panky

In 1977, designer Gale Epstein created a hand-made lingerie set for her friend, Lida Orzeck, crafted out of embroidered handkerchiefs. The original designs were the inspiration for the company name, Hanky Panky. Blending traditional with modern glam looks, Hanky Panky is a fashion favorite of countless celebrities.
