Did you know it’s International Cat Day? (It’s a real thing, started by our friends at IFAW!) While our chairman of the Board, Henree the Poodle gets all the attention, the Hanky Panky team includes many people who share their lives with furry feline friends.
Here are just a few of the beautiful cats of Hanky Panky.
This is Sybil, a feisty tuxedo kitty that Hanky Panky Co-founder Gale Epstein adopted from a cat sanctuary upstate. Sybil was named for local revolutionary war hero Sybil Ludington. Sybil is quite musical and likes to sing along when Gale plays the harp.
Baby (left) and Sissy (right) are a pair of gray tiger kitties that were adopted from an animal shelter together by Cindy, our VP of North American Sales about 7 years ago. Her family loves living with this pair of kitties. Sissy is super sweet and never hisses, while Baby is a little more reserved.
This is Mart, a beautiful and cuddly Siamese cat, who belongs to Daria in the Graphic Design Department. He lives with her family in Saint Petersburg, Russia, so she only gets to see him when she visits home. Did you know? In Russia, kitties say, “мяу.”
This is Frankenstein, a gorgeous orange tabby (and avid Snapchatter), who belongs to Angelique in the Receiving Department.
Susan in the Accounting Department shared this beautiful photo of Chloe the gray tiger cat. Chloe was a stray that started hanging around the Brooklyn workplace of Susan’s brother-in-law. Susan’s family took her home, and now she lives in Queens, where she’s always purring—even in her sleep!
Max and Rocky also live in Queens with Jiovannie who works in our Customer Service Department. As you can see, they both love to stretch out. Max is a lovable, huge fur ball, who thinks he’s little, but he weighs a whopping 19lbs! Max is also a polydactyl cat, which means he has an extra toe. Rocky is an adorable tabby who likes to eat peanut butter!
Charlie & Poesje are two feral cats that adopted Ank, our Sample Sale Organizer Emeritus. They value their independence, but love coming to Ank’s house for tasty meals and a warm bed. Poesje means “small cat” in Dutch. In Holland, kitties say, “mauw.”
This is Rosie, a chatty tortie tabby who belongs to Carrie in the Graphic Design Department. She lives in Brooklyn, and recently became a big sister to Carrie’s baby son. In Brooklyn, kitties say “fuggedameowtit.”
Silver & Gold are a pair of adorable kittens that Cecile in our Order Entry Department recently received as a birthday gift. They’re litter mates, about 4 1/2 months old, and cute as can be!
Meet Biggie, named after his size and as an homage to the late hip-hop artist. He belongs to Caley in our Sales team. Biggie showed up at her mom’s front door one day in Syracuse and never left! So she isn’t positive how old he is, but suspects around 10. He has since relocated to the big city, home of his namesake.
This is Pixie, a sweet calico who lives with me (Larissa from the Design Department). She was found starving on the streets of Brooklyn 12 years ago and now lives the high life in upper Manhattan. Pixie has a wide range of vocalizations, and has been known to purr loudly while bathing, and quack when she wants attention.
Jealous of all the cute kitty love, and think a cat could fit in with your life for the next 15-20+ years? International Cat Day is a great day to go visit your local shelter and adopt a new Best Feline Friend, or support the animal rescue or welfare organization of your choice.
