Style Watch: The Pencil Skirt

Hanky Panky Signature Lace Classic Camisole and Pencil Skirt

Hanky Panky Signature Lace Classic Camisole and Pencil Skirt

For the last few seasons, lace pencil skirts have been seen on the runways of Dolce & Gabbana, Cushnie et Ochs, Giambattista Valli, Collette Dinnigan, Erdem and Tom Ford, to name but a few. While most of us do not have the budget to afford the aforementioned designers’ collections, we can at least admire their work.

Taking reference from current trends, making our own pencil skirt from our universally-adored Signature Lace seemed like a natural progression. It fits into the trend but has the added benefit of our soft, comfortable fabrics and bright colors.

For the true  Hanky Panky fan, this could be worn as a head to toe look paired with our Signature Lace classic camisole in matching tones or contrasting colors to make a bold statement.

For those looking to wear it as a true separate, I recommend wearing it with a peplum top, silk/chiffon blouse (I personally love pussycat bows at the neck on this type of style) and/or a statement jacket.

However you wear it, I feel a belt always helps as it emphasizes the waist and creates a slimming effect, particularly for those with pear shapes and hourglass figures.

Take a look at some examples of my personal suggestions.

Lastly, feel free to have fun with it. Be creative and make it suit your personal style.

About Hanky Panky

Over 30 years ago, in 1977, designer Gale Epstein created a hand-made lingerie set for her friend, Lida Orzeck, crafted out of embroidered handkerchiefs. The original designs were the inspiration for the company name, Hanky Panky. Blending traditional with modern glam looks, Hanky Panky is a fashion favorite of countless celebrities.
