Nothing’s better than ice cream on a hot summer day. Well, unless you happen to be vegan, lactose intolerant, or allergic to dairy. As a lactose intolerant person, I’m always on the lookout for natural, tasty frozen treats that will agree with my digestive system (and my desire to eat wholesome, sustainable foods.)
Enter the Soft Serve Fruit Company!Their dairy-free, gluten-free, allergen-free, creamy soft serve is made of fruit, water, and a “touch of” organic cane sugar, so it’s ideal for people with food sensitivities. They offer myriad natural and organic toppings for a guilt-free “ice cream shop” experience.
There were so many flavors and toppings to choose from, it was tough to decide. (I’m definitely going to try one of their “pretzel cones” next time I stop by!)
I decided to try banana soft serve with chocolate syrup and natural peanut butter. It was positively heavenly, not too sweet, and very light and refreshing. (And low calorie!) My fiancé tried the mango soft serve with crushed pretzel topping. While the mango was tasty, the banana was a clear winner in terms of texture.
They currently only have 3 locations: Upper East Side (Third Avenue @ 78th St), Union Square (17th St @ Broadway), and the Hamptons (Watermill), but they’re definitely worth a visit if you’re nearby.
