Last week, Hanky Panky attended and was honored at the 2017 Best of Intima Awards. The awards gala, now in its 13th year, recognizes North American lingerie, loungewear and swimwear retailers for excellence in various areas. For the Best of Intima Awards, retail stores are nominated by brands such as Hanky Panky in categories including Best Concept Store and Best European Flair.
In celebration of our 40th Anniversary this year, Hanky Panky partnered with the Best of Intima for the Hanky Panky Sisterhood Award. From our origins, our company has been rooted in the bonds of sisterhood between best friends. The award lauded the loyalty and appreciation of the women who have supported Hanky Panky throughout the years and have joined the sisterhood. Co-founders, Lida Orzeck and Gale Epstein, selected our long-time retailer, Cathy Daniak, owner of The Dain Shoppe, to receive the honor. Located in Morristown, NJ, the Dain Shoppe is one of Hanky Panky’s oldest accounts, carrying us since 1980.
Cathy accepted the award with a “striptease” of sorts in a vintage Hanky Panky stretch lace dress and sharing the story of the dress. She dubbed it “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Dress” and recounted how the dress has been worn by her and her two daughters throughout the years to weddings, bar mitzvahs, proms and now here!
To end the night, we, of course, cut a giant purple 40th birthday cake in true Hanky Panky fashion. See more pictures here below.
