Hanky Panky is proud to be a Gold Sponsor for the TCFStyle Expo created by The Curvy Fashionista and happening July 28th-29th in Atlanta, GA. And SURPRISE! We are giving away TCFStyle Expo tickets to the first 45 people to email JD@hankypanky.com with “#HankyPankyxTCF” in the subject line. Please include your full name and email address.

The TCFStyle Expo is a 2-day event of shopping, fashion, inspiration and education in and for the plus size community and industry hosted by The Curvy Fashionista. A long-time partner of the The Curvy Fashionista (see this 2011 interview with JD, Hanky Panky’s Glam Guru), Hanky Panky will be providing the cocktails during the networking mixer and our collection of plus size lingerie in sizes 1X to 3X will be on display in the Hanky Panky Lace Lounge for attendees to explore.

We recently got to catch up with TCF creator and woman of the hour, Marie Denee, to discuss all things lace and the expo.

Carla: First off, we are so excited to be a part of the TCFStyle Expo! What inspired you to start the expo?

TCF: I attended a shopping event years ago, maybe 6 years ago, and there were no plus size options—unless I wanted to buy earrings. A friend suggested that I do something like this, but at the time that was an intimidating thought with finding and renting an affordable space. Once I moved to Atlanta, it became more of a reality and now we are in our third year!

Carla: How did you discover Hanky Panky? And what made you think of us as a sponsor for the TCFStyle Expo?

TCF: I have been a fan of Hanky Panky for years. Since I worked in retail, I knew of Hanky Panky as a brand and knew they had great product. So when I heard there were introducing plus size, I was very excited!

Also, having worked with JD for years and it being your 40th anniversary, I know that I wanted Hanky Panky to be involved and to collaborate as the brand is a part of my panty round-up.

Carla: Where would you like to take the expo in the next few years? Any plans to do it in a different city?

TCF: I think there is a lot of opportunity to grow, but I want it to grow naturally. I have thought of doing smaller pop-ups. I don’t want to build it so fast until there are legs to stand on. I was surprised that there were over 80 inquiries when we asked people about panelists. It showed our followers are very interested in education and conversation, so I would like to incorporate that more in future TCFStyle expos or do a another day of the expo dedicated to that.

Carla: What is your hands-down favorite Hanky Panky item?

TCF: The original rise thong! It is the most comfortable. Also, the retro thong. I like that it sits higher, smooths and makes me feel sexy. When I’m wearing these, I know that I have my cute chonies on! By the way, chonies is a Spanish slang term for underwear that I picked up while living in Cali.

Carla: What is important to you when shopping for lingerie? And does Hanky Panky meet your expectations?

TCF: Access and options. I want the same as my straight-sized friends. The option to shop what I want when I need it. I don’t like to feel stuck. Plus size women are already mostly relegated to shopping online, even if a brand has plus, so I would like choices when I’m there. This is another reason why I wanted to do this expo: so we could have a shopping experience off-line and wanted Hanky Panky to be a part of creating the plus-shopping experience.

Marie, thank you so much for speaking with us and see you at the TCF Style Expo!

Coming up on the blog, The Curvy Fashionista will take us through her top Panky Picks from the Hanky Panky Plus Size and Bridal Plus Size collections, so stay tuned!

About Hanky Panky

In 1977, designer Gale Epstein created a hand-made lingerie set for her friend, Lida Orzeck, crafted out of embroidered handkerchiefs. The original designs were the inspiration for the company name, Hanky Panky. Blending traditional with modern glam looks, Hanky Panky is a fashion favorite of countless celebrities.
