Slip Into Something Comfortable

Oh, the much-maligned slip. Often treated as something only appropriate for octogenarians, the slip has slowly disappeared from many women’s wardrobes. This is a tragedy!

The function of a slip is to provide coverage and a smooth foundation for your outer garments. A well-made slip will make bra and panty lines disappear, as well as allow your clothes to glide effortlessly over any lumps or bumps that you may wish to minimize. This makes a slip indispensable when wearing clingy or lightweight knit dresses. I always joke that a slip can make you look ten pounds slimmer, with no need for uncomfortable shapewear.

Sometimes a great pair of fishnets will stick to a dress or skirt, and cause it to ride up when walking. Nobody has time for that! Since they reduce friction between layers, slips are great for keeping your skirt down where it belongs when wearing crocheted or textured hosiery.

When a dress is not as well-lined or opaque as we would like, a slip can provide coverage and confidence.

Slips can also be glamorous and fashionable! I love wearing a lace-trimmed silky skin chemise as a feminine and functional layer beneath my dresses.

Hanky Panky’s Silky Skin fabric makes the ultimate slips. It is made from microfiber filament yarns, so the surface is whisper-thin, smooth and silky, Lycra® Spandex gives it a perfect fit, and because it is made of naturally-derived rayon, it breathes comfortably and static cling is rarely an issue.

Here are a few of my favorite Hanky Panky Silky Skin slips.

Hanky Panky Silky Skin Luxe Chemise

Silky Skin Luxe Chemise

The mid-thigh 32″ length and straight, fitted silhouette make the Silky Skin Luxe Chemise slip ideal for layering under a variety of dresses, while the luxurious lace insert makes it perfect for wearing under wrap dresses or plunging necklines. Available in black and mocha.

Hanky Panky Silky Skin Invisible Full Slip

The Silky Skin Invisible full slip lives up to its name. Its above the knee 36″ length, v-neckline, soft, flat trim, slim adjustable straps, and clean hem make it a versatile layer under just about any style of dress. Available in black and mocha.

Hanky Panky Silky Skin Invisible 17" Half Slip

Silky Skin Invisible 17″ Half Slip

The Silky Skin Invisible 17″ Half Slip hits at mid-thigh, and is great for wearing with unlined skirts, or dresses with non-traditional necklines. Available in black and mocha.

Hanky Panky Silky Skin 21" Half Slip

Silky Skin 21″ Half Slip

The Silky Skin 21″ Half Slip hits above the knee, has an easy A-line silhouette, and features pretty, scalloped lace at the hem. Like the invisible half slip, this also looks good under unlined skirts or dresses with non-traditional necklines. Available in black and mocha.

As you can see, the slip is a fabulous solution to many wardrobe woes. I hope you consider adding one or two to your wardrobe. You will not regret it!
